Student life at Perpetua House

Our school day is a full and enriching one including creative time for Art, Drama, Dancing and a host of excursions. We hope to expose our learners to a wide range of skills so that the best and most informed decisions can be made regarding their post-school life.

SCHOOL AND LEARNING

Our school curriculum covers

  • Numeracy and Literacy – at the level of each learner
  • Natural Science, Social Science & Life Skills – to broaden the general knowledge of our leaners
  • Career development – where we try and equip our learners with the skills necessary for life beyond school.

YEARS OF CARE AND LEARNING

SCHOOL AND LEARNING

Within the Career Development we have

  • Skill classes – introducing and working on general skills required for a host of job opportunities including basic sewing, woodwork, beading and baking
  • Career classes – focussing on the social skills required in the work place
  • Job shadowing – where the learners spend time in real jobs

Crafters

Our Crafters currently join us twice a week to work. They make a host of items with each Crafter contributing towards the end product. These items are later sold both online and at markets.

Our Learners and Crafters include those on the Autism Spectrum, those with Down syndrome, Pervasive Development Disorder and other barriers to learning.
